Junior/Senior High Fine Arts
Band
Students have the opportunity to begin learning an instrument in late elementary school, with continued instruction and participation through the junior and senior high years. Our ensembles participate in concerts, performance evaluations, and additional performance opportunities as they arise. Students seeking an added challenge may also participate in activities through both GACS (Georgia Association of Christian Schools) and GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association). OCA students have competed and won at the state level of the GACS Fine Arts competition and have also competed at the national level. Additionally, OCA students have participated in solo and ensemble festivals and clinic honor band, and have auditioned for and been accepted into district honor band and all-state band through GMEA.
Drama
Drama students participate in one major theatrical production each year. This competitive program provides students with the opportunity to act and sing in a full-length musical or drama while developing confidence and performance skills. Drama is also integrated into Fine Arts competitions through skits, dramatic interpretations, choric speaking, readers’ theater, and other performance formats through GACS and additional exhibitions associated with OCA.
Chorus
Students have the opportunity to join the choir in junior and senior high school. Choir ensembles participate in concerts, performance evaluations, and additional performance opportunities as they arise. Students seeking an added challenge may also participate in activities through both GACS (Georgia Association of Christian Schools) and GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association). OCA students have competed and won at the state level of the GACS Fine Arts competition and have also competed at the national level. Additionally, OCA students have auditioned for and been selected to All State Choir through GMEA.
Art
Students have periodic opportunities to participate in art through electives and extracurricular offerings. Student artists may also compete through GACS (Georgia Association of Christian Schools). Art forms explored include painting, pencil drawing, crafts, and jewelry, providing students with a variety of creative outlets and opportunities to develop their artistic skills.
